Ramona Quimby Age 8
Remember kid, we're counting on you
thump, thump, thump
Have you seen my eraser?
Liar!
Squeak, squeak, squeak
Try and get it, Bigfoot.
I know it isn't easy
sustained silent reading
We are going to have a wedding party
Hm-m, Hm-m
The corn bread was done, but flat
Grit, grit, grit
Grinding growl of a car
Grr-rrr-rrr
Dear Superfoot,
get well or I will eat your eraser
Ramona
Clean up your room
Rainy Sunday afternoons
in November
Her parents
seemed tired and discouraged
Whopperburger
Well, young lady, have you been good to your mother?
That man paying for our dinner
A happy ending for today.

I really enjoyed your poem! It is everything an 8 year old thinks and notices!! It reminds me of my childhood. I always use to hear 'clean your room' and I could never sit still through silent reading! Its cute and funny!
ReplyDeletethanks! After I read the book I went back through because I noticed so many italicized words and it looked like a great idea for a poem.
ReplyDeleteI really liked this poem! I loved how it emphasized the sounds and short important things! It was very much the kind of people a child would enjoy reading!
