Good Books.

I think a good book is a book that engages a child, draws them in and makes the story real. They can have very few words and still be amazing. A series of books by Alexandra Day about a dog named Carl are books that I would consider good. Some of the titles are Good Dog Carl, Carl Goes to Daycare, and Carl Goes Shopping. These books only have words on the first and last pages and certain items in the stories have titles but that is all. Throughout the book you know what is going on by the illustrations and they are very vivid. These books not only engage the child by allowing them to piece the story together in there own minds, but it also teaches sequencing. I wouldn't say a good book is necessarly one that throws a life lesson in your face but these books show life lessons inadverntently.

  1. I agree completely with you on these books. I am not familar with the series, but by the was you described them it sounds to me like these books allow children to in a was write there own story through the illustrations provided by the book!! That certainly is a way to appeal to all ages, because it allows a childs interpretation to never be wrong! I think I will have to look these books up just for fun!
